Massage Therapy is the manipulation of soft tissues in the body. Various techniques are commonly applied with hands, fingers, elbows, knees, forearms, feet, or a device. The purpose of Massage Therapy is generally for the treatment of body stress or pain. The word “massage” comes from the French and means "friction of kneading", which, in turn, comes from the Arabic word “massa” meaning "to touch, feel". Massage has been found in many ancient civilisations and dates back to 2330 B.C.: The Tomb of Akmanthor in Egypt depicts two men having work done on their feet and hands, presumably massage.
